Dear Ernie,
As you know, I was recently elected chairman of the largest Cancer Center in Israel, Sheba Medical Center, Tel-Hashomer. I plan to make it also the best! In order to accomplish this I believe we that we should integrate sophisticated clinical methods with compassionate and supportive attitude to our patients. To that end I suggest that we join the excellent supportive care program started by you in San Francisco and in Stanford.
Our cancer center includes a clinic with 2500 new patients a year, a day care service with 15.000 visits per year, a 17 bed in patients ward and a modern radiation therapy facility. A hospice, run jointly by Sheba Medical Center and the Israel Cancer Association, is situated within the hospital campus . We strive to give our patients the best supportive care possible (in addition to the best professional cancer therapy), and after seeing what you have done at SF and at Stanford I believe that joining your program will help us achieve the best for our patients.
I look forward to seeing you here and to collaborate on those important projects.
Sincerely
Raphael Catane M.D.Prof. Raphael Catane M.D.
